Dear family letter
Dear future host family:
Hello, my name is Guadalupe Argañarás, I am 24 years old. I´m from Santiago del Estero, Argentina. This city is one of the hottest places in the world, so that makes most of their people warm and lively at least that the case with my family.
I’m currently living by my own in a nearby city called Tucuman but most of my life I have lived between my mother and father houses in Santiago del Estero, they are divorced since I was 8. I have tree little sisters whom I´m very close with, especially with Victoria the one who is now 18, next is Lucia who is 14 she is a ballet dancer who soon will be a professional, and the youngest is Paulina of 10 years old she likes gymnastics. My parents are surgeons and they work a lot, so in many occasions I had to be responsible of my sisters’ well bean because sometimes the nanny wasn’t available. My mom’s name is Carolina Cramaro she’s 45 she’s a pediatric surgeon she’s married to Carlos Marrodan who is the father of my two younger sisters. My dad is Manuel Argañarás he’s 54 and he is a general surgeon.
When I was 2 years old my dad won a scholarship in japan so my mom and I tagged along with him. In that time we lived in an apartment complex for foreigners and there we met with people from all over the world. There I went to a Japanese kinder garden. So by the age of 4 when we came back to Argentina I could speak Spanish, English and Japanese. Sadly I’ve forgotten all about Japanese but here in Santiago I’ve always attended to bilingual schools. Two years ago I went to a trip with my sister Vicky to London where we stayed for a month with the family of a doctor who are my mother friends. Since I was a little girl I liked art so one of my first extracurricular activities was an art workshop where I did painting and cute crafts, as I got older I continued to improve in drawing and became really fond of cartoons and comics. Other thing that I enjoy is reading, a lot. When I was younger my mom used to read me bedtime stories all the time, so I grew with love to fairytales and fantastic novels. These are hobbies that I would love to share with your children.
Other things that I enjoy are outdoor activities such as going to the mountains, swimming at the sea, and discover new places. I have traveled a lot in Argentina so I can develop myself in all kind of surroundings. In Santiago there’s a nice river and I’ve done kayaking a couple of times, in Tucuman there’s a lot of mountains and me and some friends enjoy going there to spend the weekends. I’ve practiced tae kwon do since I was 10 years old, now I’m a proud black belt. This martial art has taught me besides of physical abilities, about respect, discipline, honor and humbleness. These are values that I take pride to call my own and are very important in the way I live my life. I have been in tae kwon do classes and camps with children whom I helped with their techniques.
In Tucumán I´m studying to become an archeologist, this is a career that combines my love for books, history and outdoor activities and also one of the reasons for me to choose china. It’s a country of an amazing cultural heritage and I would love to see some of the most amazing historic places of the world. In my university there’s a volunteer program where we go to poor neighborhoods and help kids from ages 6 to 16 with their homework I have been part of that last year and I intend to continue this year.
As for my experience as a nanny, I have worked the last 3 years mainly in the summer time taking advantage from my university holidays and in weekends. I’ve worked with kids from newborns to 13 years old and my tasks with them was waking them up help them to get ready for school and summer camp take them to activities, make them lunch and snacks. Taking them to the park or birthdays parties, bath them, help them finish their homeworks, staying the whole weekend put them to sleep read them and playing. I really enjoy the time I spend taking care of children, they are really fun to be with and I appreciate the mutual teaching because they help me grow as a person.
I choose the au pair program to feel the real experience of living in a country by first hand. At first I was looking for “work&travel” but when I found this program it seemed like a much better offer. Taking care and teaching English to your kids I’m sure it will be an amazing experience for me. It’s a job that I will find easy to enjoy because spending time with kids it’s a wonderful thing.
Looking forward to meet you and share this experience together.
